All coco fibre will be baked at 100 degrees for 30 minutes. This kills any potential mites, bacteria, and other pests. This means the beech chips are ready to be used right out of the bag.

Why do we bake them rather than freezing them?
We bake the beech chips as freezing them could add extra moisture to the wood, which could potentially lead to bacteria and mould growth.

This coco fibre is completely dry to avoid mould growth, but this can cause a little bit of dust. Water can be added to the substrate to make it less dry.
